Make sure a good anti-virus program is loaded and it's up to date. Update definition table daily if possible. Turn on email protection. Regularly scan all your files. Educate all users to never turn off virus protection. |

Anti-spyware software is available from MicroSoft. Install and use AdAware, SpyBot, or other removal programs. |

Windows XP SR2 and current XP updates blocks most pop-ups. Anti-spyware programs help stop these. |

If you did not intend to go to a site that wants you to login, upper right corner, click the RED X. If you get caught in a loop, shutdown the PC. |

When you move your mouse pointer to the Red X, wait to see the Windows (Information Balloon) say "close" before clicking. If no "close", don't click. "Alt F4" should close the current active window. If you get caught in a loop, shutdown the PC. |

Never click directly on links in an email that requests sensitive information, even if you recognize and trust the address. These links can redirect you to a fake, "Look a like" Web site. Always type the Web address directly into your browser's address bar. |
